Ramblings & Reflections with Rob- What to do about that Sticky Tension

Uncategorized May 01, 2023

It feels frustrating.

That feeling of trying to walk through molasses, or that dream when you are trying to run and it’s in slow motion.

Tho its real life, and it often has to do with your business.

Maybe it’s a particular project that you want to get off the ground, although there has been no movement.

It could be friction with another employee or business partner, or even, a collusion between your personal and professional worlds.

In my last article, I spoke about splitting energy and gave an example of writer’s block, and the antidote would be shifting gears, stepping out of your space that is zapping you and get into a new space.

Well…like I say to my patients, there are no absolutes.

And…if you find yourself avoiding or stepping out of spaces too often, well, then you might need to shift gears in the other direction and…

SHAKE THINGS UP!

Here’s an example.

About a month ago, there was a particular “issue” I was working...

What we need to know about cardiomyopathy and how lifestyle and functional medicine can help

I have been getting a lot of questions based around cardiomyopathy, such as “are there natural ways to treat, and can it be prevented.”

I figured I would take some time to share how functional and lifestyle medicine can be used to support issues of cardiomyopathy.

Much of the reason we are hearing more about cardiomyopathy is that it has been linked to both the Covid infection as well as the vaccine. The information which I will be sharing is speaking to cardiomyopathy in general, whatever the source.

First off, what is it?

According to the American Heart Association,

Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body. The various types of the disease have many causes, signs and symptoms as well as treatments. In most cases, cardiomyopathy causes the heart muscle to become enlarged, thick, or rigid.

Symptoms of cardiomyopathy include shortness of breath, swelling of the legs, ankles and feet, bloating...

Checking in...2020 onward to 2021

It’s been soooo long…how are you?

Sorry I have been a bit incommunicado over the past few months…like everyone on this big rock spinning through space, it’s been a year for the record books, hasn’t it?

Let’s get back to the, “how are you?”

How is your health? Your energy? Your stress, worry…howz about, how is everything?

Back in the spring I wrote as well as published on social media the importance of taking care of oneself- as social distancing, isolation, etc, can have a major impact on ones health.

Regardless if you get sick via COVID or any other cold or flu, there is a real threat to ones emotional and mental wellbeing…research on forced isolation and social distancing due to outbreaks and pandemics show issues such as anxiety, depression, and even PTSD.

And we know, that all of these implications can have a direct impact to ones physical health…from lack of sleep, hormonal disruption, metabolic...

Building Resilience After the Storm…First Step, Managing Stress

Uncategorized May 11, 2020

We have been through a lot lately, haven’t we?

Just thinking back, during the New Year, a roaring economy, jobs, jobs, jobs, it seemed world tensions were at their chillest point in many years, as Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert called it…The Golden Age.

And Whammm! … a virus cripples the world, shuts down the economy, sends people scurrying to distance themselves, isolate, schools are closed, and world travel is halted.

If you think this won’t have an impact after the storm, you might be mistaken.

Some tidbits of what history and the research data tells us:

  • Social distancing results in some degree of social isolation, disengagement from social ties, connections and studies have reported negative psychological effects including post traumatic stress symptoms, confusion, and anger.
  • Stressors included longer quarantine duration, fears of infection, frustration, boredom, inadequate supplies (toilet paper lol), financial loss and stigma.
  • Separation from...

What a nutritional pharmacist does to keep his immune system strong

Uncategorized Apr 06, 2020

I have been asked a bunch lately, what am I doing to protect myself and support my immunity in this time of quarantine and “lock down.”

I first wanted to share with you what I think is critically important during these times…think and feel based on facts that we know, go with your gut and your heart, not ego and fear. Be smart, eat right, manage stress, move, get out in the sunshine, you can be alone, although work not to be lonely, and get enough sleep.

Next, let’s talk supplements.

Personally, I am not doing any more than usual, although I understand if people choice to do so.

And please note, I am not making any claims that these supplements can prevent or treat COVID, I am sharing based on both broad and targeted immune support.

  1. Vitamin D Optimized to blood levels of 60 ng/dl- if we have not had our levels read, I like an average of 5000 units daily of Vitamin D3.
  2. Iodine @ 5 to  12 mg daily. This is a full body dosage, not just thyroid, and iodine...

Natural Ways to Boost Testosterone Levels

Uncategorized Feb 28, 2020

Low libido, lack of zest, erectile dysfunction, decline in muscle mass and strength, decline in mental aggressiveness, even mood disorders can be signs and symptoms of “male menopause,” otherwise known as andropause.

Like women, men have a change in life, a noticeable decline or cessation of hormonal activity, often leading to both symptoms as well as opening up risk factors for disease.

Our testosterone is at its highest when we are twenty. Once a man hits their 30's, their testosterone levels, their testosterone levels drop 1% each year, thus year after year, there can be a precipitous drop.

As I have been rolling out The Apollo Way, Optimal Wellness and Peak Performance for Men, as well as speaking and consulting more on the topic of mens health and andropause, the question comes up...how can I naturally boost my testosterone levels?

This is a great question, because there are alternatives and complements other than testosterone replenishment, especially if someone is...

Foundational and Targeted Supplements for Memory, A Winning Combination of Nootropics

Cognitive function and brain health are one of the most popular areas of interest of both conventional and nutritional medicine. Whether it’s for a better memory, slowing the onset of cognitive decline, or just feel mentally clearer, people are looking for help.

In the realm of nutraceuticals for memory, there comes a challenge. Finding the right product to target ones memory issues (because all are not alike) with a relevant amount of each nutrient to do its job.

As there are numerous different nutrients for cognitive support, one could be finding themselves taking gobs of pills every day.

From a chemist point of view, I love a good formula, a formula so well crafted that it provides effective targeted support, strong clinical backing, and works via multiple pathways. This is why I love CogniPhos from Pure Encapsulations for cognitive support- just look at all the benefits that can come from this formulation.

CogniPhos offers a synergistic combination of phosphatidylserine,...
